Estonian Roof and Facade Masters Federation organized “Roof of the year 2015” competition in four categories: tiled roof, tin roof, flat roof and traditional roof. The competition accepted works completed in 2014 and 2015, and the aim was to promote proper roofing as well as good masters and evaluating their skills.
The stone roof category winner was Perton Ehitus OÜ Tina 26 historic apartment building in the center of Tallinn. The biggest challenge in building the roof were the multiple surfaces, sinks, skylights, etc.
The competition is held every two years and completed roof works can be submitted in the previous two years.
Tina 26 Art Nouveau villa is an architecturally valuable building and in the apartments were renovated many different historical details (windows, doors, fireplaces, floors, etc.). Small-frame windows, curved and polygonal dormers, high-attic second floor and powerful front stairs to the main door give the building an idyllic timeless look. The aim of the works was to restore the detailed original interiors. The construction and restoration works were made based on special stipulations from heritage protection.
